SEM short for search engine marketing is a modern tool for delivery of products to the consumer. It is based on attracting as much people to your site as possible and attempting a conversion. A conversion is a process of transforming a visitor to a customer.
SEM is powered by two distinct methodologies:
- One is SEO, a method of influencing a site to become ranked higher in the search engine, with it increasing its traffic and with traffic, revenue.
- The other is paid advertising, which places you site on the search results via a method of bidding for a top position. The highest bidder wins and gains a beneficial position on the SERPs (search engine ranking positions).
